Achieving Universal Acceptance through the Multistakeholder Model
|
The Universal Acceptance (UA) of domain names and email addresses has a significant impact on supporting choice, competition, and access in the global domain name ecosystem. But achieving UA requires the ICANN community to work together to help promote and adopt UA in practice.
During ICANN71 Prep Week, the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) will host a panel session that will bring together relevant stakeholders from the ICANN community and Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees (SO/ACs) to discuss their UA-related work and jumpstart a dialogue on how to enhance community collaboration to make UA a reality.
Participants include representatives from the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO), Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO), and Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC). More information on the session can be found here.

ICANN71 KICKS OFF MONDAY, 14 JUNE
|
ICANN's fifth virtual Public Meeting, the ICANN71 Virtual Policy Forum, runs from 14-17 June. There's still time to register, so please join us and the ICANN community for your selected sessions of interest.
In the schedule, you'll find topics ranging from security workshops to plenary sessions exploring the impact of regulatory developments on ICANN policy, presentations from ICANN's NextGen program, and a cross-community meeting about the post-pandemic future of ICANN Public Meetings.
In between sessions, join us for a daily Virtual Coffee Break or Fika. The first event in Room 1 will feature opportunities to learn about participation features for ICANN71. We'll show you how to set up 1:1+ meetings, start an online discussion, and use our in-session language service tools. Or, take a look at Room 2 and learn how to make an origami Dutch tulip.
Sessions will be held in The Hague, Netherlands timezone, Central European Summer Time (CEST), UTC +2. Plenary sessions will be broadcast live from our YouTube channel.
