The choice of a Board Liaison is one of the tasks of the ALAC. Each ALAC representative is expected to make a decision according to his/her conscience, as to whom they think will be the best and most effective  representative for At Large positions to the Board members. The vote is anonymous. This anonymity is for a  reason – so that we do not have painful schisms within the group that may prevent us from functioning effectively as a team. For that same reason, I would ask both of you to dial down the level of acrimony (Erick!)

 

If a representative wants to have his/her RALO make the decision – that’s your prerogative. Or if you want to make your own decision, totally independent of the RALO – that’s also up to you.

 

But with regard to the statement by Erick – if he is a Director of an organization, I would think it reasonable that he is empowered to make a statement on behalf of that organization, no matter who the official VOTING rep in LACRALO is. He is an accredited participant in ICANN via the At Large list and the LAC-Discuss list, and I don’t think that we want to start down the very slippery slope  of shutting down participation or muzzling voices of valid participants.  Also, LACRALO is not the At Large, and all members of the At Large have a right to express their opinion on the At Large list.

Dear Jacqueline and all:
 
I went to the LAC RALO meeting on morning today, and ALFA REDI was represented by their acredited representative, who was Rudy Medina. Rudy Medina come to this meeting with the representation of AR, and always in all meetings of LAC RALO acting in this character.
Erick, I Know is a Director of AR, but in this opportunity come and participate, but today at morning he didn`t assist to the LAC meeting, but doesn`t matter because the acredited representative of AR was there. And The consensus was achived (for 11 ALS presents there) in this meeting and I consider, nobody who not assist can talk in against the conseusus raised.
Consensus is a very good thing , and this is achieved all people feel a good sensation, this was the sensation today morning. And in opposite I particularly consider Erick had a bad atitude because want to change in a unilateral way the consensus freely and transparently achieved.
 
It`s my opinion.
 
Of course the consensus support the Wendy`s postulation.
