Hi, Yes, I used the Travisa travel service. Cheaper than traveling to NYC twice. Actually would have been thrice, as I was also asked to show them a previous visa that was on a previous passport that I would not have thought to bring with me. I have my visa. Now I just need to work out flights. avri On 22 Feb 2013, at 13:59, gbruen@knujon.com wrote:

There's no consistency. I also have a trip from a previous passport (Canadian passports are only good for 5 years but the visa application asks for trips up to 10 years back). Based on Avri's advice I had my old passport ready with me(*), but they never asked to see it, I had written the Visa number on the application, which may have been good enough). (*) - I don't know about US practice, but when renewing a passport in Canada they usually ask for -- and destroy -- your old one. You have to explicitly ask for the old one back, at which time they give you dirty looks, then stamp things on it and cut its corners. At one time I thought that asking for old passports back was just for nostaliga, but as Avri found out there occasionally CAN be a practical need. So when your passport expires, do what you can to hang onto it. I have my visa. Now I just need to work out flights.
Interesting I saw some people at the Toronto application desks who were asked to show flight itineraries as part of the visa process. Or they had to book the flight between the time they applied and the time they picked it up. Not applicable when using third-party services, I guess. - Evan
Hi, The same service was available until some time in the recent past, when there was an announcement on some buried web page that too many people were asking for the service and they could not handle it. The main web page was not updated. --bob On Fri, 22 Feb 2013, gbruen@knujon.com wrote:

Was just notified that my passport is en route back to me. So if I really find a visa in it when it gets back tomorrow, I will hopefully be good to go.

All,
Constituency Travel provided some detailed responses to various questions and closed several open items. I have posted there updated answers within the Travel Sub-Report:

It is my understanding at this point everyone who is receiving sponsored travel is on track at least with what they need from Constituency Travel(except for Glenn), if I am wrong please let me know. Thanks for everyone's input.

Yeah, there was a notice in the office which stated the process was changed in August 2012 with no specifics. Everything we have been working from is dated 2011, even what is on the embassy website. The main web page was not updated. --bob On Fri, 22 Feb 2013, gbruen@knujon.com wrote:
Thanks, I'm asking because there were two options on my application: 2-3 days and 4-5 days. I had asked if I could get it the same day but they said "no"
However, when I got my pick up form there was a Rush option for "Same Day"
Would have save me a trip
On top of that the time frames on the pickup form are different. Express = next day
There is a fourth option which has no translation (????)

In Toronto, it varies depending on what service you want. There is standard (4 working days, $80), express (3 days, $146) and urgent (2 days, $186).
