Dominik and all, Roberto has been a long time supporter of no actual policy role for users or registrants, but has been a supporter in users/stakeholders being able to "Advise" ICANN through the GNSO. Whatever this actually means as far as the ALAC and the ALS'es in respect to getting what users and registrants desire and accountability is a matter of some constranation of course. Frankly I believe that the position of any ICANN Bod/staff member or GNSO staff or council member that religates users and/or registrants, especially Independant Registrants to a role of simply as advisory is cowardly and inconsistant with accountability. -----Original Message-----

For ALAC, it is more and most important to stay accountable to the public community. If an ALAC's own position is not worth discussing and properly argumenting with other bodies on equal basis than, yes, refusing a weak statement and presenting the one ALAC believes is a better/perfect proposal is the only honest solution.

Yes! Stay pure and uncontaminated by all the durty things of the real world, that ask for the ability of building alliances through compromise. Get all or nothing, don't settle for half of it! Of course, the obvious conclusion will be that consumers will get nothing. But is this, after all, of any importance?
