From Glenn McKnight, NARALO Nomcom representative We started our ICANN81 NomCom with three full days of onboarding workshops. The majority of the committee managed to attend in person. All of the members learned first hand from the current chair and chair-elect and the well seasoned staff on the particular rules and procedures that shape the responsibilities of the current Nomcom. In addition, NOMCOM rules was augmented by the recent NOMCOM review and the post-analysis of last year's NOMCOM recommendations to improve efficiency. - *Day 1:* - It can't be oversimplified but the NOMCOM handbook emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and respect for the process. We need to take our responsibilities seriously avoid the "loose lips' lapses and to commit to a code of conduct that is professional and does not undermine the integrity of the NOMCOM. - *Day 2:* - All members selected the committees that are interested in chairing or membership. Five working committees exist and the process for this year is a fresh start requiring substantial work - An outside contractor was hired to help us be personally aware of the inherent bias in the selection process. The session is called Unconscious Bias Training sessions , a contractor who has been doing this training for a a few years. All of us benefit from this type of training and crucial in our work - *Day 3:* - Final day focused on Inclusive Leadership Training and the different styles of leadership which is crucial for our subcommittees. Unfortunately it was largely abstract and it could have been helptul to identify its relevance to NOMCOM work. All committees have dynamics and motivating members is crucial - In conclusion we had two presentations by PTI Board Directors and Jonathan Zuck ALAC Chair. *Closing :* Our next stage of the work will start with constructive effort virtually over the coming weeks with a focus on the revamping of the application. Our next face to face will occur at ICANN 82 Glenn McKnight, MA Virtual School of Internet Governance Chief Information Officer www.virtualsig.org *YOUR SOURCE FOR INTERNET GOVERNANCE EDUCATION * *Mobile 437-237-4655*
