2025 NARALO Elections Result Announcement
Dear All, On behalf of Greg Shatan, Chair of NARALO, we are pleased to announce that the following NARALO candidates have been selected by acclamation or election in 2025: Jonathan Zuck - ALAC member representing NARALO (Term: 2025 AGM – 2027 AGM) by acclamation. Bibi Rookayya Gulmahamed - NARALO Secretariat (Term: 2025 AGM – 2027 AGM) by election. Alan Greenberg - NARALO Regional Recommendation for the ALAC Delegate to the NomCom from the North American Region (Term: 2025 AGM – 2027 AGM by election. Note: Alan Greenberg is the Regional Candidate recommended to the ALAC. The ALAC will select the final ALAC Delegates. NARALO Regional Recommendation for the ALAC Delegate to the NomCom from the North American Region Election Explanation: Since there were more than two candidates, the practice in NARALO is to have electors rank the candidates and use the Single Transferable Vote methodology. The number of Rank=1 votes for each candidate is tallied and the candidate with the least is eliminated. For each ballot, the Ranks are adjusted removing the votes for the eliminated candidate and moving up other candidates if necessary. So if a voter ranked the eliminated candidate as Rank=1, the candidate who they ranked=2 is now moved up to Rank=1. And the process is continued until there are only two candidates and a winner is declared. If there is a tie, as per NARALO Rules of Procedure 2.3.5, the NARALO Chair casts a vote. There is one exception to the above process. If one candidate gets a majority of the "Rank=1" votes on the first ballot, that candidate is declared the winner. No additional ballots occur. Kind Regards, ICANN Policy Staff in support of the At-Large Community
Congratulations to Jonathan, Bibi, and Alan on your election victories! While I wasn't successful in this race, I remain deeply committed to our shared vision for NARALO and the broader ICANN ecosystem.
