The missing piece of DNS Abuse and blocking
Hi all, I just attended the ICANN webinar in explanation of SSAC 127 on DNS Blocking. I asked about the report's lack of consideration of end-user blocking options and was, shall we say, unimpressed by the (lack of) response and assertion that sufficient attention has been paid. With that in mind, I wish to share with my NARALO colleagues the slides to a presentation I made last night on this topic at the monthly meeting of my ALS. It offers a different, user-centric perspective on the issue. Here is the link to the Google Slides document <https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1byjVHYQ07w34ABaTVktQYuCJ0NJ4CFWFFAyU...>. Anyone is welcome to copy or share it, though I would request attribution. Obviously this is a slide deck and does not include my presentation on top of it. If interest exists in having the presentation offered to a different audience or if you have any questions, please let me know. -- Evan Leibovitch, Toronto Canada @evanleibovitch / @el56
Hi Evan, Thanks for sharing your presentation on DNS Blocking and for continuing to push for a more user-centric perspective in these ICANN policy discussions. It is an extremely important contribution. Your belief that end-user blocking options are the "missing piece" strongly aligns with my core campaign priority for the ALAC Representative position: closing the long-standing gap in NARALO’s end-user DNS Abuse Mitigation and education efforts. *Subject: Update: ACES Phishing Module Campaign & Next Steps for RALO Leads* Dear NARALO Community, As one of the RALO Leads for the ALAC Community Engagement Subcommittee (ACES) Phishing Module, I wanted to share a quick update on the campaign's progress. The ACES team, led by Amrita Choudhury, has officially shared the *Phishing Toolkit* with the RALO Leads. This toolkit contains the core materials for the campaign and includes: - Course presentation - Trainers' module video - Presentation script - Localised examples - Pre/post survey questions - Marketing material (to be added later) The RALO Leads are responsible for creating awareness, organizing community-level training sessions, and driving the phishing campaign within our RALO. We have a coordination call scheduled for *May 19 at 13 UTC* to address queries and provide clarifications before launching the campaign efforts in our region. I am reviewing the toolkit now to prepare for the call and will share further updates on how NARALO members can get involved with the campaign's implementation in the coming weeks. Best regards, Mohibul Mahmud NARALO RALO Lead, ACES Phishing Module
