NARALO ELECTIONS: CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Dear all, On behalf of NARALO Leaders we are announcing the following: This is the formal call for Expressions of Interest on various elected/selected positions within NARALO. This call is being made in accordance with the NARALO Operating Principles (https://community.icann.org/x/Z44i). The selection procedures for Chair, Secretariat Alan Member and Nominating Committee (NomCom) delegate are detailed below. If you would like to nominate someone or to put yourself forward for selection, please post on the NA-DISCUSS Mailing List - previous nominations will not be considered. Anyone self-nominating or accepting a nomination must have an At-Large Statement of Interest posted at https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+New+SOIs+Workspace. The process can be monitored at https://community.icann.org/x/GjPRAg. POSITIONS * NARALO Chair: Currently held by Garth Bruen. Current term ends on 16 October 2014 at the end of the 2014 Annual General Meeting (AGM). The new term starts immediately after the end of the current term and continues until the end of the 2015 AGM. Garth is elegible for re-selection. * NARALO Secretariat: Currently held by Glenn McKnight. Current term ends on 16 October 2014 at the end of the 2014 AGM. The new term starts immediately after the end of the current term and continues until the end of the 2015 AGM. Glenn is eligible for re-selection. * NARALO ALAC Representative Member: Currently held by Evan Leibovitch. Current term ends on 16 October 2014 at the end of the 2014 AGM. The new term starts immediately after the end of the current term and continues until the end of the 2015 AGM. Evan is completing his second term and under the NARALO Operating Principles he is NOT eligible for re-selection this year. * NARALO 2015 NomCom Delegate: The NA delegate to the 2013 NomCom is Louis Houle. According to NomCom rules, a delegate may serve up to two consecutive terms and Louis is eligible for re-appointment. The appointment is made by the ALAC and the candidate selected by this process (if any) will be recommended to the ALAC for the NA delegate position. It is possible but not recommended to submit more than one name to the ALAC. The ALAC is not bound to accept RALO recommendations. Hi All, I nominate Glenn McKnight for the ALAC position that begins in October 2014 for NARALO. Glenn has been NARALO Secretariat for the past year and has done an excellent job. Previous to this he held many other positions within ICANN and within NARALO. He has dedicated many hours even years to NARALO. Thank you Judith. I accept the nomination and I believe my commitment and efforts within NARALO will be a big contribution to my ALAC role as it's critical that NARALO has an active voice in issues impacting all North American end users. My efforts to reach out to disadvantaged groups ie. First Nations, Disabled and the Digital Divide communities need champions in the demonstrating that ICANN is truly a multistakeholder organization. Outreach at ARIN,NTEN and IEEE this year has been another major another achievement, building bridges to the non profit sector and technical communities.
