ICANN NEWS ICANN FY2020 Financial Results ICANN has published financial results for the fourth quarter of the financial year ending 30 June 2020, which reflects ICANN’s unaudited financials for the full fiscal year. ICANN remains in a strong financial position despite the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the announcement and access the results here. REGIONAL FOCUS: ASIA PACIFIC Contributing to DNSSEC Deployment in the Asia Pacific Recent statistics show that the Asia Pacific (APAC) region is catching up fast in Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) deployment. Read more here about what DNSSEC is and why it is important. ICANN’s measurements note that 58.47% of APAC ccTLDs have signed DNSSEC, ranking second after the Europe region (77.3%). Across the world, 56.17% of ccTLDs have currently signed DNSSEC.     DNSSEC validation in the APAC region has also increased in the past 12 months, led largely by the Oceania/Pacific region (source APNIC, generated on 10 September 2020). ICANN org has been working actively with the community to achieve this through engagement and technical capacity building. Since the establishment of the ICANN Asia Pacific Office, ICANN has delivered over 100 DNSSEC training sessions in the APAC region. ICANN org will continue to work with the regional community in this key area. Lars Steffen (Germany) Lars Steffen is a member of the Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers (ISPCP) Constituency. He is also the Director of eco International, which is part of eco – Association of the Internet Industry. With more than 1,100 member companies, this is the largest Internet industry association in Europe. Lars is a strong advocate for the Universal Acceptance of Internationalized Domain Names and new generic top-level domains (gTLDs). Between 2016 and 2019, he served as the outreach co-coordinator for the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG).  ICANN69 is the 19th ICANN Public Meeting that he has attended, since his first Public Meeting at ICANN50 in 2014. MEET THE ICANN FELLOWS "I believe that as more people connect to the Internet, language barriers will be reduced." Katarine Gevorgyan (Armenia) Katarine works in the private sector on the development and promotion of the .AM ccTLD and is a member of the Internet Society of Armenia.  Katarine was a Fellow for both ICANN66 in Montréal and ICANN67 in Cancún. Since 2018, she has actively participated in a myriad of ICANN-sponsored conferences, which have helped her to understand ICANN better.  After attending ICANN66, she began working with the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) and the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG).
