I have just read the “Proposed
Framework of Interpretation for ICANN’s Human Rights Bylaw” a
document prepared by a Cross Constituency Working Group (CCWG)
Human Rights Sub Group.
A Framework of Interpretation is a required submission to the
ICANN board, by the CCWG-Accountability, in order for the new
Human Rights Bylaw, as an ICANN Core Value, to come into effect.
Much of this readily readable short document is about how a Human
Rights Core Value will operate within the context of ICANN’s remit
and ICANN’s processes. NPOC organizations may want to review the
document with two purposes in mind.
- First, you may have comments with regard to what is proposed
in the Framework of Interpretation, comments based on your own
organization’s treatment of human rights.
- Second, there may be some ideas about Human Rights as a core
value that your own organization might find useful in this
proposed approach for ICANN. The document (in pdf, docx &
doc) is attached.
