Dear NCUC, NCSG, NPOC Members,

Happy New Year to you all. I hope 2026 has started well for you.

I am pleased to announce and invite all NCUC members to our quarterly webinar for the first quarter of 2026, titled:

“From Policy to Practice: How DNS Abuse Mitigation Impacts Civil Society and End Users.”

📅 Date: Wednesday, 11 February 2026
🕒 Time: 15:00 UTC
 Duration: 80 minutes
🌐 Format: Online (Zoom)
🕰 Click to check your time zone:

DNS abuse mitigation has become a central focus within the ICANN ecosystem, with growing expectations on registries and registrars to take proactive enforcement actions. While these measures are essential for maintaining trust and security in the DNS, their real-world implementation has raised significant concerns for civil society and end users, including transparency, due process, over-enforcement, and unintended impacts across different regions.

This webinar will examine how DNS abuse mitigation policies are applied in real-world contexts across both developing and developed regions. It will highlight lived experiences, regional disparities, and policy gaps, while exploring safeguards and best practices that can ensure effective abuse mitigation without undermining fundamental rights.

Key objectives include:

·         Examining the real-world impacts of DNS abuse mitigation on civil society and end users

·         Identifying transparency, accountability, and due process gaps in current practices

·         Elevating perspectives from developing regions alongside challenges faced in developed contexts

·         Strengthening NCUC’s policy advocacy through evidence-based insights

The discussion will feature a diverse, multi-stakeholder panel, comprising civil society and digital rights advocates, technical and security experts, representatives of contracted parties, and regional voices.

NCUC members are also encouraged to recommend speakers, particularly individuals with relevant experience or case studies from developing and developed regions who can contribute to a balanced and insightful discussion.

Details of the moderator and speakers will be shared soon.

I am sharing with you the draft concept note for additional information.

We also encourage members to help share this announcement broadly on other platforms to reach a wider audience.
