Good day you all, as head of the policy committee of NPOC, I will like to introduce you to ways to get about involved into the policy development processes (PDP) of ICANN especially within the Generic Names Supporting Organization(GNSO). Your first starting point should be the GNSO Info page, you should focus on two sections I will suggest in your learning curve which is the GNSO working Group members and Newcomers link is https://gnso.icann.org/sites/gnso.icann.org/files/gnso/presentations/policy-efforts.htm#newcomers
The following is a link to understand how the PDP process of ICANN works https://gnso.icann.org/en/node/31379/ from issue identified to implementation.
The following below are list of working groups I belief are strongly relevant to our mission as NPOC and I will focus on as Chair of the policy committee. We should be involved in any of these working groups, and fully commenting on them as NPOC or within NCSG Policy. Our NPOC piriority list as your policy chair are listed below.
· Non-PDP CWG on the Use of Country and Territory Names as TLDs
· PDP Review of All Rights Protection Mechanisms in All gTLDs
· PDP Protection of IGO and INGO Identifiers in All gTLDs
· PDP Privacy & Proxy Services Accreditation Issues Working Group
· PDP 'Thick' Whois Policy Development Process
I will also suggest you visit the www.npoc.org to get familiar fully with our charter which is been reviewed at the moment as a start link is http://www.npoc.org/governance/charter/ detailed link for all GNSO projects is on https://gnso.icann.org/en/group-activities/active
Lasting I look forward to members volunteering to be part of the Policy committee as we move on, please contact me accordingly, and I look forward in you joining our membership calls both on NPOC and NCSG so I hear from you your thoughts on PDP processes and also what suggestions you can make and contribute to within NPOC and the NSCG DISCUSS mailing list. Please feel free to email me directly on any stuff regarding policy you will like clarity or you want NPOC to be involved in.
Awaiting to getting your feed back as we move along.
Kind Regards
Poncelet
