Hello everyone, The NPOC Executive Committee met today, Tuesday February 19, 2019, for the monthly call. I have attached the notes and action items here. Please read through. We'd love to hear your comments, suggestions and other contributions. Dear Ore, dear EC, Many thanks for sharing this with us, it is indeed very useful for us to see what is happening & glad to see things are moving! So what I can add: * I will also be present in Kobe and will try to attend all NPOC sessions. * On spreading the word about NPOC in Kobe: Joan, I am a Fellowship coach this meeting, so I can also help in spreading the word, if you do talk to Siranush, I am glad to help as I will be present at all their meetings. All my fellow trainees know about NPOC and I am always trying to get them to join. * I will also continue to cover the meeting from the Twitter account, to keep it active on-site. (like at previous meetings) * Idea for further outreach: I am not sure we have done this before, but maybe we could obtain a list of all attendees, to see those coming from/representing/affiliated with NGOs, and try to contact them directly? All the profiles are public anyway once they register on the app, but this would really help us sort it out. Would it be feasible? (thinking of privacy concerns) * On policy: Indeed, I wrote 2 public comments and reviewed several others, trying to be more active on this as well. Will try to follow next ones. * For Maryam: I confirm I will be in Kobe. Looking forward to seeing you all in Japan, Ioana Ioana Stupariu SJD Candidate - International Business Law -------------------------------------------------------- Central European University Department of Legal Studies Nador u. 11, 1051 Budapest, Hungary Phone: +36205019300 Stupariu_Ioana@phd.ceu.edu | www.ceu.edu<http://www.ceu.edu> [Risultati immagini per ceu logo][https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1BagXXaNk9Ct-0E173kqDcdjXA1Ul7dPB&export=down...] ________________________________ From: Npoc-discuss <npoc-discuss-bounces@icann.org> on behalf of Oreoluwa Somolu Lesi <oreoluwa@wtec.org.ng> Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2019 9:48 PM To: npoc-discuss@icann.org Subject: [Npoc-discuss] NPOC EC Meeting Brief Hello everyone, The NPOC Executive Committee met today, Tuesday February 19, 2019, for the monthly call. Dear Ioana, All Ore indeed does a great job as Secretariat. Please do spread the word with the Fellows. The long term goal for the NPOC session with ALAC is to hear from members and to collaborate on sharing resources to engage and educate not for profit organizations. so this session is important to attend. Re: Your idea of inviting attendees: I will work with Juan and address this, with caution of the privacy issues as well. Thank you for participating in the public comments, NPOC needs to become more involved in policy work. See you in Kobe. Good day, In response to your question: Yes, there will be a number of NPOC members attending ICANN 64. We have a few events planned: * *ALAC - NPOC Joint Session* (Monday, March 11, 13:30 to 15:00): This is a joint outreach session between At-Large and NPOC aiming to enhance collaboration with an aim to bridge the gap in PDP processes to engage more participation in Policy Engagement and adoption. At-Large represents the voices of the end users whereas NPOC represents the voices of Non Profit Organisation of which either way they all get affected by the various policies that are discussed and implemented by ICANN * *NPOC Constituency Day* (Tuesday, March 12, 10:30 to 12:00) Get more details and sign-up: https://64.schedule.icann.org/ Look forward to meeting you. Thanks Ore for sharing. I will like to ask a few questions and observations including what happened to an account reportedly open by Chair/Sam in Canada for NPOC before we head to Estonia? Has it been closed? I had also suggested earlier an opportunity to have whoever is on FC as representative among other reps to be in Exco (extended Exco if we like) to afford better feedback mechanism and it will afford same to know where the Exco body language is headed and probably realign to that or rather project that at the Committee levels and beyond. Finally, I saw where projections were being made to seek fund from PIR. I will like to remind us that PIR already supports NCSG and it may be an uphill task seeking separate fund for NPOC and may smack off some kind of sentiment of lack of trust within NCSG. This had been one of the reason we had advocated for SPV - Special Purpose Vehicle to deliver on that within the already existing C's with an understanding (MoU) to ensure the agreement stands beyond the immediate leadership, but being opposed by the current leadership of NCUC for reasons best known to them. I must commend our chair Joan on her support as always, unfortunately Renata that understands the FC better has left office by the time a new NCSG took office so we began another round of trying to bring upto speed the new leadership, which left some of the projections on reverse gear. I wish us good luck as we progress and safe trip and meetings for those traveling to Kobe. Regards Remmy Nweke NPOC Rep. Hi Remmy, All we will await the strategy and agreement with the NCSG FC, however, NPOC still needs to continue its strategy of building relationships. Thanks, On Tue, Feb 26, 2019 at 8:25 AM Remmy Nweke <remmyn@gmail.com> wrote:
