Nomination of Joan Kerr for the VC position
Dear all, I would like to nominate Joan Kerr for the position of Vice Chair of the NPOC Executive Committee. She needs no introductions after leading us for the previous three years and we should be so lucky if she accepts this nomination. -Raoul
Raoul, Thank you however I differ based on good governance processes nothing else. Don't you think for good governance processes we should get newer members for that position. I have not seen it in NCUC or NCSG before of former EC members going for a lower position after serving as Chair. It's about governance processes, that's my take, let newer members run, it's not a cabal we shouldn't be recycling, it defeats the process of growing NPOC. Any NPOC member after serving as Chair or Vice Chair that wishes to apply for leadership should try NCSG attaining high heights. Well it's just my opinion with only one vote. If the membership believes in recycling I don't see us growing and been a credible constituency. Thank you *Poncelet O. For historical accuracy: In NCSG several former chairs have served in NCSG EC as well as in the Council (indeed some do right now, Robin Gross in the EC and Stephanie Perrin in the Council unless I'm mistaken). In NCUC at least David Cake was Chair earlier and AP representative later and Rafik Dammak was NCUC's policy committee representative after being NCUC Chair.

Absolutely agreed here, everybody willing should run. But now we're only nominating candidates, election comes later. And it is definitely good governance and good for democracy to have several candidates for voters to choose from. Regards, -- Tapani Tarvainen

By all means, all of our members are given a chance to get nominated or even step up and say that they are interested, which can be done publicly or privately. The last two slots were nominated in the last 24 hrs, after not enough candidates had come through. I would really like to see new faces step into the EC and I encourage them to take the initiative to get nominated. There are still almost eight hours left of the two week nomination period. -Raoul On Thu, 27 May 2021 at 15:42, Poncelet Jokkolabs Banjul via Npoc-discuss < npoc-discuss@icann.org> wrote:

Dear Raoul, Thank you for the nomination for Vice Chair of NPOC. I really appreciate it, however, at this time I have to kindly decline the nomination due to other obligations, where time is a factor. I am here to help with anything that I am able to do for NPOC. Regarding the various discussions, I don't feel recycled, however, as an Environmentalist it feels good to be considered worthy of being used again. For clarification, I never saw NPOC as a stepping stone to 'higher position', my only interest has always been NPOC. Thanks again for you nomination, and I hope NPOC has more regional representation going forward.
