Community Input into ICANN’s CCWG Accountability Work Stream 2 Draft Report
Community Input into ICANN’s CCWG Accountability Work Stream 2 Draft Report NPOC Colleagues, Much of the work of ICANN and those of us engaged in its multistakeholder activities involves Internet governance policy development within ICANN’s remit, generally defined as the security and stability of the global domain name system (DNS). Most of that work has to do with arriving at a consensus on best practices in ICANN’s DNS policies. However, sometimes something goes wrong, and one of the work stream tasks for ICANN in the now post-IANA Transition stage is to develop processes for accountability, both with regard to the board, and possibly for when issues arise elsewhere within the domain of ICANN’s activities. To this end a cross community working group (CCWG-Accountability Work Stream 2) was formed and charged to develop guidelines for standards of conduct presumed to be in good faith associated with exercising removal of individual Directors of the ICANN Board. It may be the case that such guidelines for standards of conduct could also be applied to other issues within the scope of ICANNs activities. The Accountability CCWG has posted a draft of its report and is requesting input from ICANN’s multistakeholder communities. Background information and links to the draft report can be found at: Background Information: https://www.icann.org/public-comments/enhancing-accountability-guidelines-go... . The draft report is at: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/ccwg-accountability-ws2-good-fai... Comments can be posted at: https://www.icann.org/public-comments/enhancing-accountability-guidelines-go... . The draft report is only 8 pages long and easy to read. The comment period extends 48 days from today, which makes April 24^th the cut-off date for comments. Have your say. /Sam Lanfranco, NPOC/csih/
