Thanks Olevie! Here is a bit more with some background. In addition to Olevie's link to the NTIA assessment report, NPOC members might like the results of NTIA's external expert consultation: June 9, 2016: Larry Strickling of the U.S. government’s NTIA has announced that the IANA Transition and Accountability proposals developed by the ICANN community have met the criteria established by the NTIA. The transition proposal has been accepted by the Executive branch of the U.S. government. NTIA assessment report, along with relevant charts and data: https://www.ntia.doc.gov/report/2016/iana-stewardship-transition-proposal-as... NTIA external expert consultation: https://www.ntia.doc.gov/other-publication/2016/fact-sheet-ntias-assessment-... Quote from the Consultation: "Finally, NTIA commissioned a panel of corporate governance experts including Columbia Law Professor John Coffee , Brooklyn Law Professor Dana Brakman Reiser , and The Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University to review the ICANN accountability provisions. The expert panel concluded that the accountability recommendations are consistent with sound principles of good governance that reflect the unique and important mission of ICANN within the Internet ecosystem. In addition, the experts concluded that the proposal renders the prospects for takeover by a single government, group of governments, or one or more economic actors to be extremely remote.” Sam L.
