Welcome to the pre-IRT: RegDataPolicy Implementation (EPDP Phase 1)
Dear pre-IRT, Welcome and congratulations on being the members of the first-ever pre-IRT. Together, we’ll chart a new course for ICANN policy implementation. Thank you all for joining the kick-off call yesterday. Attached is the slides we shared at the meeting and will be posted on the pre-IRT wiki along with the recording of the meeting. The content of these slides on the role of the pre-IRT and implementation process will be referenced often as we work together to ensure success in the implementation of this important policy. If I may highlight three key points from yesterday, they are; 1. pre-IRT is a review team that supports the IPT that is responsible for implementation planning; it’s the reverse of the PDP WG where staff supports the community work. 2. pre-IRT nor IPT will not engage in policy development discussion; our job is to implement, not make policy; we agreed to remind each other of this. 3. The implementation planning process is laboriously detailed, necessarily comprehensive, and extensively complicated involving 13 steps to get to the policy publication and issue the legal notice to the contracted parties I’d like to thank the pre-IRT for the suggestion on the topic of the GNSO Council Liaison. We agreed that while not required it may be helpful to have a liaison for the pre-IRT; especially since it is a required role for the IRT coming soon. I’ll reach out to the Council and report back to you. Our next meeting is on 24 April and Andrea will be sending the meeting invitation for the time we’ve agreed to. As we discussed, while observers have read-only access to the pre-IRT emails, the meeting is for pre-IRT members only. For all those reading this email, we have named this policy implementation as the gTLD Registration Data Policy Implementation. We will refer to it as the RegDataPolicy for short but please no acronyms. Let’s see how long this last. Thank you all for you supporting the policy implementation. — Kind Regards, Dennis S.
