Hello all,

What sad news. For me, Fred was literally a mentor. I don't know why, but he always supported me. Every time I sent him an email, I got a response. Every time I invited him to do something with LACNIC, he said yes. I learned so much from him; for sure, he will be very missed. RIP.

I was honored to be be able to call Fred a friend and a co-author.  Fred led the IETF while the Internet and the IETF were both experiencing explosive growth.  He reliability showed up.  Always.  Wherever showing up meant.  If you needed help with a spec, he showed up.  If ISOC needed help with the fellows program, he showed up.  If a newcomer needed help, he showed up.  And he did so without ego or undue emotion.

I will miss him.

Fred, in his multiple roles at the IETF (including IETF chair) and as Cisco Fellow, was a role model for me and a personal mentor.  His Internet contributions are obviously numerous.
For sure, he will be greatly missed.
