Subject: Suggestion for adding an Objectives paragraph to RSSAC001v3 draft

Dear RSSAC Caucus Members,

While reviewing the RSSAC001v3 draft, I noticed that the Introduction defines the scope but doesn’t really summarize the overall purpose in plain language. To help both existing participants and especially newcomers get up to speed quickly so they can more effectively contribute to the Work Party process, it may be useful to add a short “Objectives” paragraph up front.

I’ve already placed this suggestion as a comment in the document, but to share it here with the group:

“RSSAC001v3 is about keeping the Internet’s root servers safe, reliable, and future-proof. It updates older guidance so that expectations for Root Server Operators are treated as obligations, not suggestions. It strengthens rules on accuracy, availability, security, and transparency, while also promoting diversity in how operators run their systems so the whole root service isn’t dependent on a single technology.”

I believe such an addition would not only provide clarity but also bring new contributors up to speed more quickly, ensuring they can actively engage in the process.

Best regards,
Mohibul

Dear RSSAC Caucus Members,

We held our weekly RSSAC001v3 Admin call yesterday and merged some changes that were pending. We also a new section (1.1) on other documentation that we're hoping can resolve a lot of the questions related to references and other supporting documentation.

Next week Tuesday (September 23) we will hold our normal RSSAC001v3 Work Party call. The agenda for this call is below.
