Hi,
I am uncertain whether Time Zone issues can be entirely avoided unless we establish a working method that is less affected by Time Zone. The existing approach, which relies on a specific time slot for everyone to attend, inherently creates a significant dependency on that time slot. I believe that the manner in which IETF conducts discussions mainly through the mailing list is well-suited to mitigate the effects of Time Zone. Furthermore, in my personal view, email discussions offer two additional major advantages over the use of Google Docs comments and discussions during meetings. Firstly, emails facilitate discussions more effectively than comments on Google Docs. Secondly, emails are archived and serve to document the final version of the document. It is quite common for us to forget the reasons behind the current state of a document. Engaging in email discussions would address that issue as well.
Please be aware that I am not suggesting that meetings should not take place; rather, these meetings could be beneficial for making progress. However, the results of these meetings should be shared with the mailing list, ensuring that those who do not attend the meeting still have an opportunity to contribute.
Yours, Daniel
I encourage people to chime in. I think most if not everyone on the current call time have had to work in and with TZ's all over the world. I believe planting it in the current spot rules out participation from some of our colleagues around the world.
Regards,
