Dear RSSAC Metrics WP,

   In addition to the WP meeting in Kobe, the WP chairs and staff met twice to plan and advance the work. Below please see a summary of what is done and some next steps:

• The first item the Chair and staff addressed was designing an input form for WP members to submit your understanding of the scope as well as proposed metrics. The form is at: https://goo.gl/RFs44W. Please provide your input by 25 March 2019.
• The second item the chair and staff discussed is where to get additional input on metrics. To this end, two avenues were identified, they are:
  • Input by root server operators on any existing alerting of monitoring metrics they use that would be relevant to this work.
  • Input by the security and stability advisory committee on potential metrics they see would be useful for this work.

Communications will be prepared to send to these entities requesting input. If you know additional avenue to get input, please let the WP chair know.

• Finally, the WP Chair is preparing an initial list of metrics for the next WP discussion at IETF 104 in Prague. The initial list of metrics is the result of examining RSSAC001, RSSAC002, RSSAC024, RFC7720, IANA delegation checks, ICANN new gTLD guidebook for TLD operators.

  Please let us know if you have any questions or any input on additional sources of metrics you think the WP ought to examine, and please provide input the spreadsheet.
