Hello RSSAC Caucus Members,

 

Earlier this week at the 30 September RSSAC Meeting, the RSSAC voted to nominate Naveed Bin Rais as a Liaison to the NextGen@ICANN Mentorship Program. A letter was sent to the NextGen program staff notifying them of this selection.

Hey All,

I’m writing with an update on my original message on the NextGen@ICANN Mentorship Program nomination, hopefully with some new information that might clear things up.

  1. If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else for this position, please write to me or Rssac-staff@icann.org by COB on 19 September.
  2. The RSSAC will select a nominee based on the advice of the RSSSAC Caucus Membership Committee at the 30 September RSSAC meeting (Section 1.2.7.11 of RSSAC000v9)
    1. This quick turnaround will allow for a greater chance of an RSSAC Caucus liaison to the program as nominations should be timely, per the request.
  3. The Operational Procedures also allow for outgoing liaisons to serve two terms. The incumbent RSSAC Caucus member on the NextGen@ICANN Mentorship Committee is Naveed Bin Rais, who is serving his first term now.
    1. The request from the NextGen@ICANN program also has a selection priority for SO/ACs without previous mentors that may result in the RSSAC nominee not being selected for reasons out of RSSAC control.

Hello RSSAC Caucus,

I’m writing with a notification that the minutes from the August RSSAC [itp.cdn.icann.org] meeting are now published.

 

Also, I have an update that The NextGen@ICANN Program is seeking nominations for three (3) positions in the 2026 Mentor Program. These mentors will guide the NextGen participants through the mentorship process during the ICANN85-87 meetings. ICANN will provide travel funding for the appointed mentors to attend these meetings.

 

Each Supporting Organization (SO) and Advisory Committee (AC) is invited to nominate one individual for a total of three spots. Nominations can include program alumni, and we encourage the selection of active community members who are passionate about mentoring students. SOs and ACs can also choose to renominate previous mentors. Please note that individual self-nominations will not be accepted. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, 7 November 2025 to Fernanda Iunes -fernanda.iunes@icann.org.

 

If the NextGen@ICANN program receives nominations from more than three SOs/ACs, mentors will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, but ICANN org will prioritize groups that have not had mentors in the past.
