Hi Bernie Many thanks for preparing and circulating this draft. @SSR2 team members, please review the draft carefully as we will go through it on the next call. But in anticipation of that call, it would be good for us to use the list to surface some of the issues. Here are a few questions which I hope will help stimulate discussion, but please don't feel constrained by it. If you'd like to raise any other issue relating to the draft, please do. - Note the extensive quotations from the sections of ICANN's bylaws which set out ICANN's SSR responsibilities. What impact will this have on the way we interpret our scope? - Review the brainstorming outputs. To what extent do you think they belong in this document? - Review the proposed timeline, is this realistic? - Is there anything missing? - Do you want to raise any queries or concerns about the text? Best wishes Emily On Tue, Apr 4, 2017 at 3:24 PM, Bernard Turcotte <turcotte.bernard@gmail.com

Thanks indeed for circulating this Bernie - it is most helpful in terms of grounding some of the thoughts and forming a basis for determining a course to engage with a feasible review program with reasonable timelines and milestones. I particularly appreciate the section"Focus of the SSR2 – Scope of Work“ Personally I would be happy to see this enumeration of questions for the body of the SSR2 study, as it appears to strike a good balance in building on the SSR1 work, and looking at the changes to the environment in a post-transition ICANN. At the same time this document brings together a concrete set of questions that are not open ended but can form the basis of the SSR2 study One very minor question - in the "list of communities that the SSR2-RT may consult with” I am assuming that the resource of ICANN’s staff are also included, even though they are not explicitly listed, specifically including the manager of PTI, the CTO, the CSSO (If that’s John Crain’s appropriate title) and other security expert staff, such as Dave Piscatello. Would I be correct in making that assumption? kind regards, Geoff Huston

Geoff, To answer your question, yes ICANN staff is a resource that the RT can consult with as well as to ask for briefings on areas of interest to the team. The list that was provided in the draft ToR was captured from some initial exchanges from the RT and was meant to be the starting point for the discussion. Hi James and Geoff Thank you for your comments, and Karen, thank you for your confirmation that staff are happy to be used as a resource. To all members of the SSR2 team, please review the draft and consider the comments of team members. Bernie/Karen, would it be possible to share again on the list the full output from our brainstorming session, so that we can remind ourselves of all the comments made, and where the areas of consensus and contention are.
