Dear T/T IRT,
I hope all is well, and for those of you who travelled to Abu Dhabi last week, that you’re recovered!
I have a few items to update you on regarding the T/T implementation:
Language Tag Expertise
We’re pleased to welcome Michael Everson to our group, who will be advising us on the provisions related to language tags in our policy document. Michael is an expert in the relevant RFCs and in the construction
of language tags. Michael, thanks for coming on! I’ve invited you to this email list.
In addition to providing advice on the policy document itself, we’ll need to work on putting together a question-and-answer document for him to assess. We’ll discuss what we want to ask him in our next meeting.
I’ll create a draft for us to work with.
Policy Drafting
We’re still in the process of reviewing our last set of revisions based on your most recent feedback. ICANN60 took up a lot of our teams’ time—and I’m sure yours—but we should have an updated version for your
review by next week. I’ll set up our next call then.
Timeline and Next Steps
This is a tough one. We have a strong working policy document that, all things being equal, should be ready for public comment quite soon (this is our next step according to the
Consensus Policy Implementation Framework). However, all things are not equal in our case: even if we reach an IRT- and Community-approved policy document, we still need to:
Miscellaneous
I’m working on putting together a set of FAQs regarding this implementation to be added to the Wiki. I’ll ask for your input on that when it’s ready.
That’s all from me for now. Thanks very much and let me know of any questions.
Happy weekend!
Brian
