Dear T/T IRT members, I hope you¹re all well, had a productive meeting in Hyderabad, and for those in the US, enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving holiday. I wanted to provide you with a post-ICANN57 update on the T/T implementation: The IRT had an in-depth discussion in Hyderabad around the policy language I circulated ahead of the meeting. Most of the discussion focused on the details of implementing language and script tags to identify language and script in RDS outputs to enable transformation of entered contact information. This discussion derived from Recommendation 2 from the T/T Final Report, which stipulates that the data fields in RDS outputs should be "stored and displayed in a way that allows for easy identification of what the different data entries represent and what language(s)/script(s) have been used by the registered name holder². Some of the issues discussed: * How to identify the script between a) using the script subtag in RFC 5646 or b) relying on the Unicode property in each code point * Whether to use undefined language subtags only for legacy registrations * Whether policy recommendations allow a registry to require transformation of data from a registrar (see Rec. 1) * Clarification/increased specificity in certain policy language provisions I encourage you to listen to the session, which has been posted to the wiki. We¹re currently in the process of evaluating our policy language in light of our discussion, and aim to have our next call in mid-December. As usual, I¹ll send a doodle poll, set up a call, and provide you with any relevant discussion materials ahead of the meeting. In the meantime, please don¹t hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
