Dear ICANN, This is to advise you that Spain does not oppose to the use of the "es" label under the TLDs posted for comments on https://www.icann.org/resources/two-character-labels on the 8th September and which encompass TLDs from "ski" to "bzh". However, Spain objects to the use of the "es" label under "bio" since this is a string falling under category 1 of GAC advice relating to new gTLDs and whose use is subject to certain requirements according to Regulation (EC) 834/2007 of the Council, of 28th June 2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products (article 23). We would rather make sure that the registrant of "es.bio" undertakes to use the name for purposes related to organic food or forage produced or sold in Spain and makes a commitment to abide by applicable regulations instead of letting it free to be registered (or auctioned) by anyone on a "first come, first served" basis. Likewise, we would like to restrain the use of "es.theatre" so that only entities aiming to offer information or services in relation to plays in Spain or written by Spanish authors can register them and if applicable, they respect intellectual property rights on them. "Theatre" is a category 1 string. "At this stage, we are unable to agree to the release of the two-character "sg" label at the second-level under new gTLDs because of the concern that such use would create confusion with the ccTLD "sg" representing Singapore. Until further notice, this policy is to be applied to all new gTLDs who have requested for the release of letter-letter two-character labels at the second level." To reiterate, our disagreement (as stated above) is applied to all new gTLDs who have or will be requesting for the release of letter-letter two-character labels at the second level. Thank you. Dear Sir/Madam, I’m writing hereby to submit Taiwan government’s comments on the release of the “tw” label under the New gTLDs numbered by ICANN from R000542 to R000570. We object to the release of “tw” as SLD under all the above-mentioned New gTLDs for their registration by the corresponding Registry operators. We reserve the right to change position in this regard in the future. The rationale of our objections(applied to all the foregoing 29 New gTLDs) are below: Since “tw” label is the country code for Taiwan, the use of “tw” as SLD under these diverse New gTLDs would create confusion or concerns at multiple levels on our part, which include, but not limited to, ”dwarfing national dignity”, “violation of public order or good social custom”, “affecting the rights of domestic enterprises”, and “being prone to produce perplexity to our disadvantage”.
