IDNs for COVID19 actions
Hi all, I'd like to suggest to make an overview of the current usage of IDNs in different regions for COVID19 related websites and other projects. Seems it can be possible topic for a new UASG blog article demonstrated the benefits of IDNs and necessity of UA Readiness. For example, there were started several big web projects for Russian citizens to support them during self-isolation with IDN domain names and also a state portal devoted to the daily monitor of COVID19 situation within the country (стопкороновирус.рф). All of them use Cyrilic IDNs. In case it's possible to gather more examples from different countries, this information can be a basis for a good article. Excellent idea, Maria Kolesnikova! We are likely to get a bit of extra attention to these UA stories, because the pandemic is big news right now. I would suggest a step further: we try to persuade agencies putting up information about the COVID-19 pandemic to use non-ASCII domain names and email addresses which match the language of the content, as a way of making the content more accessible and compelling. So, encourage more cases like стопкороновирус.рф in other parts of the world. Best regards, —Jim DeLaHunt, software engineer, Vancouver Canada On 2020-04-07 23:25, Maria Kolesnikova wrote:
