Dear Jane, dear all who worked on this, It´s great to see an update on this evaluation! Just one thing: The geoTLDs for the city of Cologne (Köln) are “.cologne” and “.koeln”. There is not TLD “.köln” with a German Umlaut in the TLD ( <https://nic.koeln/en> https://nic.koeln/en). So the given example “süß@schönes.köln” needs to be adapted accordingly. If “süß@schönes.köln” has been used for the evaluation itself, this might have biased the results for Germany. Dear Jane, Thanks for sharing the update. We have shared the report on THNIC channels. Does UASG have a plan to extend the testing beyond whether a website accepts a particular email address? Just the testing of accepting email addresses doesn’t mean the site handles EAI email addresses correctly. Could we use the tools https://uasg.tech/eai-check/ to help in testing the web sites too? Sorry that it took a while for me to go through my backlog and get to this document. One thing that seems clear to me is that what we pointed out in UASG025 has been validated: the regions that need UA the most do not necessarily have much higher acceptance rates than other countries, case in point being "chinese@ascii.ascii" having such low rates of acceptance in Japan and China. Our efforts to act regionally as well as globally need to be redoubled when the current situation calms down. Regards, On 05/12/2020 14:33, Jane Sexton wrote:

Hi Jane, et al. How were the countries chosen? 1. Neither the USA nor Canada were included – and these would be very large communities. 2. Nothing in the Pacific – and New Zealand indigenous language, te reo Māori, makes use of macrons – and this was done by a New Zealand based firm! 3. Was there coordination with the local ccTLDs? Hi Don, all, The initial shortlist for countries was done on the following factors: * Geographical diversity, * Potential for UA local initiatives, and * Ability to get a list of websites across various domains (govt., media, etc.) from that country. Based on these factors the initial list of 20 countries was developed, with intention to continue adding more countries in the future iterations of this work. ICANN’s GSE team and UASG leadership were consulted in the process. Thanks Sarmad I think this was an excellent initiative and am glad to hear that you’ll pursue additional places. I would suggest: New Zealand (include Māori macrons) Canada (include French accents) Singapore (include other relevant local scripts. Also, it looks like the ascii@newshort has improved again from the last global assessment. Keep up the good work.
