Folks on this thread, and others on the list: All of the points raised below are interesting and worth discussing at our F2F meeting next week. I would not be hasty, however, in labeling the Ambassador program categorically as complete failures, or cast aspersions on people’s motivations. Those should be decisions we arrive upon after studying available data, rather than only individual opinions. We are trying out the Ambassador program for the first time. We have to learn what worked and what did not work. And adjust accordingly. In the meanwhile, it is appropriate for us to be grateful for the work the Ambassadors are doing on behalf of the UASG. Similarly, we are trying out the work with IAMAI in India for the first time. I have heard anecdotally that the program is not working as intended. It would be good to understand what factors contributed to the current state, and what we learn from it. Overall, the spirit of what we are accomplishing, and quite well, in the UASG, is to try several ideas without a high cost associated with them to see what achieves traction. We will only commit larger efforts and money to ideas that we have already vetted on a small scale. It would be good for all those interested to participate, remotely or in person, at the F2F next week, and spark deep conversations that lead to real outcomes.
