BTW, I am the APTLD Members Meeting Program Standing Committee member.

In next APTLD meeting, we are planning to invite key email ID/service providers such as Microsoft,google, apple, yahoo to have a UA EAI discussion.

I think that Mark is the perfect leader to lead such discussion.

Does any one has the person's name/contact in google, apple, yahoo or any big email service providers who are interested in deploying EAI?

EAI is the killer application of IDN. No good deployment of EAI, no good usage of IDN.

First of all, I have no idea if these emails will work, but here goes…

When we were in Guangzhou we met with the folks at TenCents who indicated that they would be transforming their email system to support non-ascii characters.

They explained, either at that time or subsequently, that this was no trivial exercise. Sort of like converting from ebcidic to ASCII back in the day I think.

I also think that they have now achieved this. A monumental amount of work to take an old, working but non-standards system into modern times.

I hope that the UASG will do a case study on this exercise – including looking at the drivers and subsequent benefits – so that people facing similar daunting tasks can see the effort and rewards.
