Seda:

Thank you for pointing me to this record of our 19 December 2024 meeting. You are correct. You did bring up these comments on the EAI Self-Certification Guide at the time. I was in the meeting, and I have notes about it.

I apologise for not recalling this.

Hello Mark,

For the background information about the policy issues for the EAI Self Certification Guide and the comments I added on that document on 18 December, please find the recording from 19 December meeting.

Please see 01:01:27 for the previous discussion: Meeting recording (passwordL4hp+i^DaW)

Hope it helps. Let me know please if you need anything else.

UA-EAI Colleagues:

Last week, at our 30 April working group meeting, I expressed some unhappiness because I thought we were only hearing about comments dated December 2023 to the "Self-Certification Process" Appendix[1] in April 2024.

I was forgetful. As Seda pointed out, she brought these review comments up in our WG meeting they day after they were entered in the document. We had 10-15 minutes of discussion about them, so it was not a rapid, easily-missed mention.

Looking at my notes, I think I see what happened.

1. Our discussion immediately went to the policy implication of these comments: that ICANN was rejecting the idea of certifiers submitting results to UASG, and of UASG publishing a roster of EAI-ready software. We talked about how this would make it difficult for UASG achieve the objective of the self-certification program: to create market category of products with excellent EAI support.

Note that our EAI Self-Certification Program Plan[2] has these tasks in section E2.4:

I suspect that if we looked, we would see that we wrote those in response to the Guide feedback in the 19 December meeting.

2. Our discussion and our attention never went back to the EAI Self-Certification Guide, and to the task of responding to those comments in the context of editing the EAI Self-Certification Guide.

If we had someone filling a project manager role,  they would be looking at a task on our list, "Resolve comments and publish EAI Self-Certification Guide as complete", and reminding us that it was incomplete.  But we don't have our own projects managed quite that well.

Perhaps in our next meeting (which I believe is 14 May) meeting, we can resolve these comments, and really truly this time publish the EAI Self-Certification Guide.

Best regards,

Hello Mark,

Thank you for the list of update requests.

For the first one, we need the EAI WG address the comments on the page 44 of the EAI Self Certification guide before we convert it to pdf.

For community wiki page, we can make updates as soon as the materials are ready.

Best regards,

Seda
