Postfix is NOT full email server, its MTA , so we can ignore it as mailbox provider. It can offer mailbox using devcot etc. Even Microsoft estimate may be wrong, as we heard Ashwin that antispam is spoiler here. So even if people update there exchange, but may not be EAI ready still.

We shall ask the discuss list too, if people have some information to share.

As part of the EAI media release, we’re claiming a large number of EAI Ready mailboxes.

We’ve done some research from generally publicly available material. NB: Not everything here is publicly available.

I want to make sure that we do indeed have a very large number of EAI Ready mailboxes deployed.

So, the attached, based sometimes on some old numbers and some estimates, show that there are nearly 3 Billion mailboxes that are EAI Ready Closer to 5.7 Billion of Coremail’s clients turned the service on.

And this doesn’t include any mailboxes for Exim, one of the most popular Open Source MTA’s deployed.

This number is expected to grow further this year as TenCent put their 900,000,000 mailboxes into EAI Ready mode and it will be even bigger if and when Yahoo makes the leap.

So, how many mailboxes are there in the world? No idea, but I would guess at 10 Billion.
