Re: [UA-EAI] Please review the SOW
Hi All I am just wondering, only included open-sourced software`s will just discourage many Email and antispam services / software`s from Performing UASG self-certification process who are even offering FREE Test Beds for experiencing EAI. Dear UA-EAI WG members, Please review the latest version of SOW for the FY24 Action Item E2.1 [Make it easier to experiment with a self-hosted working EAI system]. The document was edited by Seda and Sarmad the areas of potential conflict of interest were eliminated, only included open-sourced softwares, clarified open-ended conditions and defined the scope be only related to EAI. This SOW was made for the incoming proposals to be easily compared and evaluatedPlease review and share your inputs as comments on the document. I sympathise with your frustration. One constraint on this SOW is that apparently ICANN has a policy which requires UASG neutrality regarding proprietary products, prevents UASG contracts from recommending certain products over others. I have not seen ICANN staff explain this policy forthrightly. The present SOW revision is the result of Arnt and Sarmad applying what they understand of the policy to what we are trying to accomplish with the SOW. I encourage you not to think of this SOW as a way to encourage vendors to perform UASG self-certification. The primary purpose of this SOW should be to reduce barriers to EAI adoption by organisations which operate email systems, and by providers of email services, through making it easier to install prototype-grade email components which have excellent EAI support on a private network. I hope that this work will complement other initiatives to reduce barriers to EAI adoptions. For example, some EAI-compliant email service providers (like Data Xgen) have trial service offerings hosted on the provider’s own servers, which require no deployment of email components by the testing site. Some customers may reject that because they want control of the email components, servers, networks. This work provides an option which provides that control. It does not prevent other trial service offerings. I have suggested wording changes to the Purpose section of the SOW draft that will include ideas from the previous two paragraphs. What do you think? —Jim DeLaHunt
