Hi, Was not quite ready to present this at this week's meeting as I had not had a chance to write anyhting up. Plus I was waiting on the decsion regarding the outside evaluator since that would affect how this got done. Since obtaining an outside evaluator for this task was ranked quite poorly in the pool, it is an activity that the members of the team would need to take on, if ithe review is to be done at all. In this note, I want to suggest that this is something that WS4 take on this issue. While the Whistleblower recommendations was not carried through in the ATRT1 recommendations, it was one of the recommendations made by Berkman in Section 2.4b of their report, which is included in the final ATRT1 report. In this they refer to the One Work Trust Accountability and Transparency review that had been done the year before. With some of the issues that have been mentioned in the confidential list, some of the issues that have been made public in domainincite and elsewhere, I beleive this is a Question that must be answered: - Has ICANN met the requirement for supporting a Whistleblower program that meets current best practices With the general awareness in society these days that a good whistleblower program is necessary for two reasons: - without a safe and reputable whistleblower, it is impossible to legitimize a transparency program - the absence of a safe whistleblower causes the information to come out is some other manner I hope we can include this among the topics this WS can deal with. thanks avri
