SO: I was actually trying to be fair by making sure that people from my country also have the opportunity to participate more and that can be ensured if they get the translations in their languages as well. I do not think it will be fair to serve some countries and not serve the other. However since you have now said ICANN already does translations for other sanctioned countries except Iran then I rest my case and would strongly support ICANN supporting Farsi[1] translation.

Sorry Seun, I was not clear. I am not suggesting to translate on my personal level. I am doing too many things at ICANN on my personal level. I will end up doing it if this group does not support, but I am afraid I have too much to do and really cannot add to it by translating the questions and answers.

Translating the questions and answers from English to Farsi and vice versa has a very justifiable reason. Iran is definitely affected by US sanctions which might affect their access to domain names and official language of Iran is Farsi. If any other country's language is not listed as a UN language but is affected by OFAC and sanctions, that language should be included too.

We don't even know how many answers we are going to receive how can we start talking about expenses!

I would not argue it's about a number of people speaking, but the people who could be affected.

At today's meeting of the Jurisdiction Subgroup, the Group
decided to request that the Questionnaire (attached) be
translated by the ICANN Language Service. At a minimum, the
Questionnaire would be translated into the 6 ICANN working
languages; if the ICANN Language Service has the capability to
translate into other languages, it is possible that the Subgroup
may wish to have the Questionnaire translated into one or more
additional languages.

It is expected that some costs will be allocated to the CCWG for
performing this service. Therefore, on behalf of the Subgroup,
I am seeking your approval to incur the expense of translation.
These costs are not expected to be material.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this
request. In any event, I will seek an estimate of time and
costs from Language Services.
