Hi all,

For those who were not able to join yesterday, I want to bring to the list’s attention the link to the report: https://dnsrf.org/blog/net-effects--an-evidence-led-exploration-of-igf-impact/index.html

It’s great to see these resources that help inform the conversation about the IGF’s positive impact. It’s especially interesting to see the report’s recommendations on how the IGF may evolve. Although short, they offer a glimpse into the strong interest in preserving the IGF, combined with a community’s appetite for feasible ways of transformation. I’m sure additional suggestions about the IGF’s evolution will keep surfacing.

Best,

DNSRF Webinar Invitation

Join us for the launch of the IGF Impact Report

Is the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) just a "talking shop", or is it a critical part of the internet governance ecosystem? What tangible impact has the IGF had since its remit was last renewed in 2016, and how should we think about its future?

Answers to all these questions are contained within a new report by the DNS Research Federation and you are invited to its launch - where the main findings will be outlined and you will have the chance to quiz the report's authors.

The report was produced thanks to support from the UK's Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and covers the period 2016-2023 with an eye to the upcoming WSIS+20 meeting in 2025 where the IGF's remit and future will again be reviewed.

The report was developed through interviews with a diverse group of nearly 50 frequent IGF participants combined with analysis and review of over 1,000 IGF documents using AI/ML enhanced text mining techniques.

It finds that the IGF has had a significant direct and indirect impact on the Internet and Internet-related policies, has become a crucial and growing connection point and hub for the Internet's multistakeholder community, and has given voice to communities and countries that may otherwise struggle to be heard in the global arena.

Please sign up today to hear more about what the DNS Research Federation discovered, receive a copy of the report, and be the first group to dig into a topic of lasting interest to the Internet governance community.

The webinar will last an hour, including 20 minutes set aside for questions.
