If you can recall at the CSTD Working Group on IGF Improvement in
2011-2012 time-frame, funding was a major discussion point and it was
from that brainstomring that the IGF Support Association (IGFSA) was
conceived. Yes, it would have been nice to have an established and
predictive funding stream for the IGF but I think the fuel for its
survival so far has been its relevance as we see Saudi Arabia and many
once opposed to IGF welcoming it.

I believe when we get to the position of universal consensus on this,
it'd happen. In the meantime, stakeholders should continue to contribute
to the funding of the Secretariat. ICANN, the BC, Google, RIRs, etc
have been supportive in this regard through IGFSA and they should not
relent.

Nevertheless, I think the output and outcome of IGF viz its capacity
development opportunities, summary documents, repositories and the
proliferation of NRIs are excellent pointers to its growing strength.
