As one of the members of the data governance working group there’s no doubt in my mind that we will be discussing these subjects. My hope is that the WSIS review will avoid data governance subjects and leave it to the working group to do its work and provide an interim report to UNGA 81 as ordered by the GDC.

Subject: [wsis20] Re: Informal Multistakeholder Sounding Board (IMSB) Reflections on the WSIS+20 Elements Paper

Thanks, Anne.

The attachment is quite informative.

As you know, the issue of addressing AI's use of copyrighted or
Intellectual Property materials is still under discussion. Perhaps the
ongoing CSTD WG on Data Governance may address it. But one thing is
clear, there can be no data sovereignty without a sovereign law guiding
the use of your citizens' data.

Whether your sacred data should be available to AI is a decision with
futuristic implications. If it is not available, the risk of its
misrepresentation is there, and it may be too late to act later. These
issues require that all who are concerned should work together to plan
with visionary foresight.

Cheers,

JO
