As presented during AFRALO monthly call, one of the key outcomes of the AFRALO-AfrICANN session at ICANN85, was the recognition by participants of the importance of AFRALO statements and the need to continue and further strengthen this work. These statements not only preserve AFRALO's institutional knowledge but also create an important feedback loop with ICANN Board, supported by ICANN staff. In addition, they capture AFRALO's positions on important and emerging topics currently under discussion within the ICANN community. A survey conducted during the session reviewing AFRALO'S statements by topic across the years revealed that the highest number of statements (11) focused on ICANN Transparency and Accountability. Given the ongoing community work on the Review of Reviews, and the current public comment proceeding on the standard bylaws' amendment - transition article on specific reviews. ICANN86 AFRALO-AfrICANN session could serve as an opportunity to conduct structured analysis of these 11 statements to: * Identify gaps, lessons learned and areas where concerns remain unresolved * Develop a consolidated AFRALO perspective on next steps for improving ICANN accountability and transparency mechanisms, taking into consideration current developments and ongoing work * Translate the resulting analysis into a new AFRALO statement, providing timely input into the current Review of Reviews work stream If you agree with the proposal outlined in this email and discussed during the monthly call, please reply to this email indicating your interest in joining the drafting team. Best wishes Hadia Elminiawi AFRALO chair
