Your response well noted. The big question begging for answer is not how much work she has done with ISOC Benin, but how much has she been engaged and involved with AFRALO? That is our primary concern. We want people who have kept AFRALO alive to be allowed to lead AFRALO not conscription or drafting people who have never identified with it to lead those who have been here just because they are DOING SO WELL else where. The other candidate has been incommunicado for more than 5 years in AFRALO and suddenly even the current outgoing chairman could lend his support for his nomination including our dear Tijani. What happened to all other leaders of the more than 70 ALS? That is my struggle. Thank you. On Mon, 29 May 2023, 19:35 Ramanou S. BIAOU, <ramanou@biaou.net> wrote:
Hello dear friends,,
I'm very amused by Tidjani's question. As you know Raïhanath Gbadamassi well, I'm still struggling to understand the point of the answer I could have given. Unless I'm mistaken, you've had the opportunity to meet on several occasions in our AFRALO community.
*Afterwards, a linguistic error will have all the merit of being corrected without undertone.*
*@Abiola* no confusion arises, and we choose our representatives for their quality, not their gender. Such a solicitation is inappropriate.
*@Raymond* A lot of people know Raïhanath Gbadamassi in AFRALO community and the Internet Governance ecosystem. So if you don't know Raïhanath Gbadamassi, that doesn't mean Raïhanath isn't known.
*@Peters,* when you say "*This is what you get when nomination are made based on rewarding friendship*", I can reassure you that you are quite mistaken very well.
I had the opportunity to work closely with Raïhanath Gbadamassi when I was Chair of ISOC Benin Chapter and also on other occasions. Raïhanath Gbadamassi successfully coordinated the “INTERNET BJ” project we initiated (https://isoc.bj/internetbj/read-book/ , page 8 ), which mobilized several Internet experts who worked for several months.
The result was the publication of a book on thehistory of the Internet in Benin from 1999 to 2020. <https://isoc.bj/internetbj/get-book/> This publication is a first and unique in Africa. Raïhanath Gbadamassi then helped several countries at regional level to design and implement an approach enabling each country to document its own Internet story. I've worked with Raïhanath Gbadamassi and seen the energy Raïhanath's capable of putting into commitment in the Internet governance ecosystem.
We mustn't let a slip of the tongue: “He/She” disorient us from the quality of the person being nominated.
With my best regards,
Ramanou

Good point. This is what you get when nomination are made based on rewarding friendship instead of commitment to AFRALO ideals and activities. People will not cease to amuse me in AFRALO That is why ALL candidates must address us at a meeting to be called like was done for other contestants. Thank you.

Ladies and gentlemen, This shows why we must have elections, when confusion arises over the gender of a candidate who is to represent us. From the ongoing discussions, I get the impression that people are confused about whether Gbadamassi is a male or female. I assume Gbadamassi belongs to this forum. As someone who aspires to represent AFRALO, she owes us a duty to declare his or her status. Or is that too much to ask of someone who wants to represent us?

Hello everyone,
I support the nomination of Raïhanath Gbadamassi. At my earlier beginning of engagement in Internet Governance in 2020, I met her for the first time during an AG of the ISOC Benin Chapter where she launched with a team she co-led a book relating the history of Internet in our country Benin from 1992 to 2020. Since then, we have met at several Internet Governance initiatives/Forums like BENIN DNS FORUM, ICANN 75 in Kuala Lumpur to list a few. She is currently serving as the Vice-President of our ISOC Benin Chapter as Olivié has mentioned above.
Good luck Raïhanath for this nomination and I hope to see you appointed. I can't wait to see your future engagements and contributions.
Best regards, Achille.
