Dear All, Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback and/or expressed interest in being part of the drafting team. One of the keyoutcomes of the AFRALO-AfrICANN session at ICANN85, was the shared recognition among participants of the importance of AFRALO statements and the need to continueand further strengthen this work. These statements not only preserve AFRALO'sinstitutional knowledge but also create an important feedback loop with ICANNBoard, supported by ICANN staff. In addition, they capture AFRALO's positionson important and emerging topics currently under discussion within the ICANNcommunity. A survey conductedduring the ICANN85 AFRALO AfrICANN session reviewing AFRALO'S statements bytopic across the years revealed that the highest number of statements (11)focused on ICANN Transparency and Accountability. In light of the ongoingcommunity work on the Review of Reviews, and the current public commentproceeding on the standard bylaws' amendment - transition article on specificreviews. ICANN86 AFRALO-AfrICANN session would serve as anopportunity to conduct structured analysis of these 11 statements with the following objectives: - Identify gaps, lessons learned and areas where concerns remain unresolved - Develop a consolidated AFRALO perspective on next steps for improving ICANN accountability and transparency mechanisms, taking into consideration current developments and ongoing work - Translate the resulting analysis into a new AFRALO statement, providing timely input into the current Review of Reviews work stream We are pleased to note that this initiative has received the highest ever recorded expression of interest in contributing to a joint AFRALO/AfrICANN session.
