Dear Chenai, We are looking at other organizations to solicit recruits from that are outside the sphere of traditional ICANN involvement. These include (among others) the Urban League, NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners), etc. We are already making a strong push for women applicants (while not discouraging men in any way) There is a “Women in the DNS” meeting planned for Copenhagen, where we will outreach for female candidates. If you have any views, you are most welcomed to share with us. Thanks and best regards Dave Kissoondoyal

Hi All,
Many thanks for the update on why there are low applications. I just had a question on this point:
We are also facing the hurdle to more female candidates since we have on 15.69 % applicants as female. Out of 51 applications that we have received, there are only 8 female candidates. Grateful to you also if you could please help us to outreach for Female candidates from Africa.
Is there a targeted outreach strategy to attract female candidates? or will one need to be developed after of course figuring out the reason why women are not applying?
Will share within the African women community as well.
Thanks,
chenai

Can you share your experiences on why there has been low applications from applicants from the Africa Region and where we need to improve? (that is if you are allowed to do so?)

So far we have received 8 applicants from Africa compared to only 5 from Europe. But we can still improve as the deadline is 21st March 2017. Please help us spread the message in our community. We are also facing the hurdle to attract more female candidates since we have on 15.69 % applicants as female. Out of 51 applications that we have received, there are only 8 female candidates. Grateful to you also if you could please help us to outreach for Female candidates from Africa. In fact we need more candidates, both male and female, from our region.
Thanks and best regards
