Dear Pastor Peter's, I appreciate your comments. I simply shared my thoughts which elicited a very strong reaction from you necessitating the response above. Be that as it may, I appreciate the fact that you liken this process to a Parliamentary process which makes me appreciate your point of view more. It seems I walked into a high stakes context with simplicity. Pardon me but I still don't understand where the contention is. I appreciate the letter of the law but I live by the spirit since the law can be transient. That explains the continuous evolution of Bylaws within the ICANN ecosystem which ensures the organization and community stays relevant. I can also confirm that I endorsed Hadias candidature, I don't think it's wrong to endorse anyone despite the fact that she is in a different ALS. It should also not be tied to any roles I have played in the past. That was then and the organization has made great strides in terms of improving how it operates which in itself if a continuous process. I don't think this is a fight, let us reason together my brother Pastor Peter's. Best Regards On Mon, 1 May 2023, 3:00 pm Peters Omoragbon, <petersomoragbon@gmail.com> wrote:
Dear Barrack. I will ignore your innuendo which is meant to provoke and present me in a bad light to satisfy your sinister motives. I refuse to fall for it.
I wonder why you are now the spokesman for Hadia. You dont belong to the same ALS. For an ex Secretary of AFRALO I wonder what you re promoting all in guise to be in the good books of Hadia?
You want to lower the bar that was not applied to your candidature when you contested for Hadia by calling me a bully. That is far below decency and organisational discuss. I hope the leadership and others are reading your unpaliamentary remarks here.
We all have our rights of freedom of expression, I have not opposed that right.
God bless you.

Hi Pastor Peter's,
Many thanks for your email. I think you have your say and I also had my say, I shared my opinion which is within my rights. AFRALO is an evolving organization. Let us stop being bullies and allow the organization to evolve. You are blowing a simple conversation out of context unless there is more to this conversation that what we are having, if that is the case you are within your rights to pursue that which you wish but allow others to also have an opinion.

Dear Barrack
Your intervention makes very interesting reading but your attempt to defend the indefensible is destroying very fabric of building AFRALO on its structures is defeated if you in one voice claimed you were endorsed and supported by ALSs structures of AFRALO to be elected into the secretariat and on the other saying Hadia or anyone else can come from outside these structures to vie for elective offices in AFRALO as individuals is very conflicting to say the least. Why do you think she needs not be a member of an ALS to contest? That to me is double standard.
The angle of gender balance is fundamentally flawed and smacks of cheap blackmail to say the least. Sarah K was Secretary for 4 years. She was elevated to ALAC and still there. So what imbalance are you referring to?.
Other women have indicated interest in the past for one post or the other. No where in the history of ICANN has there been deliberate attempt to prevent women from elective offices. Until recently, Maureen was ALAC Chair for years!
I do not play to the gallery. I have nothing personal against Hadia, other than that she does not merit to lead AFRALO because she does not belong to any ALS. We know the contributions a lot of us have made to sustain AFRALO. We did not just join just because of occupying offices. We joined because we are Pan Africanists. That is my over riding interest. To promote and protect the African value in a multi cultural social political entity like ICANN and any other organisation.
You may have your support for whosoever, but please, do not destroy the foundation of AFRALO in the name of "We were trying" to increase AFRALO membership.
I have done my due diligence by referring this matter to ICANN Staff for intervention. If not satisfied I will raise it with the Ombudsman.
Enough of this cult like tendency within AFRALO. Note, I am not desperate for any office in AFRALO, God has already promoted me. I am an added value to ICANN and AFRALO.
Have a blessed workers day celebrations. Justice for one is justice for all. Any peace without justice, is a peace of graveyard.

Good morning Pastor Peters,
Allow me to wade into this conversation. Using the ALS analogy, i joined AFRALO and served the Secretariat as a member of the ISOC Kenya ALS for which I was founding President. When the ALS joined AFRALO I was no longer a Chapter leader and just an ordinary member endorsed by my chapter. When i left office and joined the Kenya ICT Action Network i also worked alongside my colleagues Mwendwa Kivuva and Liz Orembo to ensure it was an ALS. I am an active member of both organizations and they are both At Large Structures meaning I potentially represent two at large structures and either can nominate me to vote or play a representative role. At that time our focus was to increase the AFRALO footprint in Africa by increasing the number of At Large Structures. Reading through your email, you introduce certain nuances which while they have merit may not necessarily have locus. Whereas we represent or are members of At Large Structures we vie as individuals normally with the support of other RALO members both individual and those representing At Large Structures though its the ALS vote that counts. It is normal as has been the case with this election for candidates to reach out across the board for support. Having said that and granted the 'infraction' you have pointed out which is debatable Hadias contribution to AFRALO and the At Large Constituency is not in question. There is merit in judging her as well based on the value to the RALO and whether she will represent the interests of the RALO well. We are also aware of the fact that since madam Fatimata left the position as Chair we have not had another female Chair, what are we doing as a RALO to encourage gender balance when it comes to such roles. Simple as her candidature may appear it may inspire many women to take up their roles in in the Internet ecosystem. We saw one of the ALS Leaders Hadja Sanon rise to become a Cabinet Minister in Burkina Faso after sharing the meeting rooms with us in AFRALO. She actually graced the Africa Domain Name System Forum in 2020 at the peak of COVID as the Minister. I hold no brief for Hadia despite knowing and working with her in AFRALO, At Large and DNS related events in Africa. What I know is she walks the talk. It also behoves us to encourage a gender balance to encourage active participation of women in the Internet and DNS ecosystem in Africa especially when we get good candidates who are willing to offer themselves to be of service to the RALO. Let us also have a futuristic approach that leaves no one behind, i am keen to see how we are fairing as a RALO based on gender and i hope the incoming secretariat will give us a preview on the same and advise if it is an area we need to work on. Many thanks for considering my humble thoughts and let us vote wisely

Good evening Moataz
Thank you for coming out to try a face saving effort for Hadia by way of claiming that she is a member of your ALS.
Without prejudice to our individual rights to aspire to any elective office in ICANN, I find your position here rather curious.
If Hadia has been your member since 2021, as you claimed, why did she not reflect this in both the nomination and her acceptance including her SOI?
This to me and other discerning members of AFRALO fall short of expectations. The offices in AFRALO are to be filled by the congruent parts of AFRALO which are the ALS. If all the ALS have not been doing what we have been doing, where would she have an AFRALO to contest in.
Another curiosity is why she was not endorsed or supported by your ALS from the moment nomination was opened until Akay raised his objection.
It is my humble opinion that, we should avoid short cuts in all we do in Africa.
As far as we are concerned in our ALS, Hadia does not represent your ALS in AFRALO.
This to us is a serious infraction which must be discouraged within AFRALO. Let us respect our due diligence and due process. This issue will have to be investigated by the ICANN Staff, because if not justifiably handled could destroy the fabric of AFRALO.
Thank you. Pastor Peters Omoragbon Executive President Nurses Across the Borders International (AFRALO ALS since 2010)
