I would like to nominate myself as a ALAC Delegate to the NomCom.
I believe my engagement in ICANN since ICANN75 has allowed for more engagement in ICANN bringing newcomers into ICANN with local and regional impact through the ZambiaSIG among other forums.
*SOI*
I have been actively engaged in ICANN since ICANN75, leading to being an ALS Rep for the Internet Society Zambia Chapter. This has seen more Zambians and other Africans especially in my region (Southern Africa) engage more in ICANN and the IG ecosystem.
Regarding diversity, being Internet Society Zambia Chapter president gives me broad access to different players in the Domain space at local and regional level. Further, being part of the Zambia IGF and the Zambia Youth IGF coordinator, allows for a broad experience in internet Governance thereby having an open mind and wide consultation approach in decision making.
And in building capacity for Internet governance, which includes taking some ICANN courses, I pioneered the Zambia School on Internet Governance, running the 4th Cohort this year.
Running the school allows for me to be neutral and objective in selecting applicants, done the past 3 years. Another ICANN engagement where selection of participants involved the ICANN DNS security workshop with ISPs, Registry and TLD operators among others at SAFNOG8.
These are among a few times where selection of qualifying candidates was done.
As such, I would like to be considered for the ALAC Delegate to the NomCom. I believe a new perspective, mind and approach to some AFRALO matters will definitely make an impact in growing AFRALO engagement, visibility and Impact in the region as it relates to ICANN.
