The shutdown cost the economy a minimum of $300,000 per day, in a country with a GDP per capita of just $578. That figure does not include the impact on mobile money services or disruptions to the informal economy, which Togolese people depend on to survive. *The good news is internet service has been restored in Togo*, thanks to the hard work of local activists and support from members of the #KeepItOn coalition — a group of 133 organizations from 56 countries working to bring the internet back where shutdowns occur, prevent shutdowns in high-risk environments, and raise awareness about the impact internet shutdowns have on human rights. *But there is still so much more to do.* In just two years, Access Now has logged *more than 100 internet shutdowns across the world.* Millions of people have been cut off from critical services that grow economies, hold governments accountable, and connect friends and family during times of unrest.
