Hello All, I believe the idea behind this strategy is a very good one and I support it. But I will like to encourage the executives to seek for more founding to enable more of these ALS's and individual members to attend these programs and contribute to discussions. More often a lot of members desire to attend these programs but do not have funding ...this was evidenced in the just ended ICANN 59 in Jorburg, where large number of ALS's participated because of the support we received. I quite appreciate the presentation of the Draft Outreach and Engagement schedule. I will humbly plead that we suggest useful events and partnerships to make this vision more robust and cross-cutting around all stakeholders' and sectors of our continent. I suggest events around Youth initiatives such as the ICT Summer Academy CAMPs and Girls in ICT from our orgaisation;s which targets primarily youths from ages 15 - 35 and those from primary and secondary schools.Another is Women ICT Summit (hosted locally in Nigeria and Abroad within Africa / the West Countries), for women from 18years and above. These and many others across various ALSs in Africa countries which are targeted at various categories of groups will drive the objectives set by the vision of the "Outreach and Engagement", as we can indeed reach out to the grassroots with Internet and ICT knowledge, deployment and integration purposes. Likewise the idea of raising funds for the kind of agenda set here is crucial to encourage more participation and ensure impactful outreaches especially to those who really needed to be engaged across Africa. I celebrate this laudable move and I do hope others make more useful contributions. Thanks for the opportunity to share with us all. I love this family. 2017-07-25 10:14 GMT+00:00 Aziz Hilali via AFRI-Discuss < afri-discuss@atlarge-lists.icann.org>:

Dear Aziz, Thanks for sharing this plan which is a great piece of the document, many thanks to Daniel and Tijani for their effort towards this document. However I feel the strategy document is silent on the engagement with other activities that may be coordinated in the region like Southern Africa Internet Governance Forum SIGF, WIGF etc. it might be difficult for AFRALO to participate in all activities due to resource constraints but I am thinking we could look at the major ones that have an impact on our outreach program. Otherwise I support the document agenda and goals. Dear chair, Thanks for the strategy moving forward. What would now be interesting is I think we may be all in support but I think putting a time line and areas and countries we wish to cover etc., would add value to the strategy itself. I would also like to see how budgeting will be affected. Kris

Dear Daniel and Tijani, Thanks for sharing the AFRALO strategy with us and making time to draft this strategy for AFRALO +1Hassan's suggestions and Here are my thoughts about the strategy: 1. I am wondering why we all have 2017 events on a 2018 strategy. Was this an oversight or is it that we have a different system of tracking the year. - I suggest that we track 2018 activities in the 2018 strategy. 2. Then in the strategy plan you mentioned about organizing local events in partnership with ALSes but that was not added to the engagement events targeted - I would like to suggest that you add some of those events be mentioned too. 3. I was also wondering if AFRALO has a strategic plan or the one suggested by Daniel and Tijani is the AFRALO strategic plan. Because it seems to me like this is limited to only outreach and engagement - kindly advise Generally my view of the AFRALO strategy would be a strategic document with strategic objectives. The ALSes can then allign some of their activities with the AFRALO strategic objectives using a Cascading approach. Then we can have a strategic plan that can be tracked with input from the ALSes including budgetary implications. The my suggestion about attending the events , the ALSes within the event host country or region can attend and get clearance to conduct outreach activities for AFRALO. With support this can be achieved unless if key decisions are required to be made. otherwise I am glad to be a part of this vibrant community and looking forward to more engagements.
