Re: [AFRI-Discuss] AFRI-Discuss Digest, Vol 16, Issue 12
Hi Mohammed, This is an excellent review. Many kind thanks for this. Some comments inline below: On 25 Feb 2008, at 11:41 PM, Mohamed EL Bashir wrote:
Domain Tasting : This ALAC initiative to address Domain Tasting is progressing. In Los Angeles, the GNSO decided to start a PDP on the subject. A working group has been addressing the issue. https://st.icann.org/gnso-liaison/index.cgi?domain_tasting
I've joined the mailing list.
Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) : there an ALAC working group on RAA, which currently discuss the user community comments on "section F' of the implementation plan.
Where can I find more info about this?
IPv4 to IPv6 Transition : ALAC position in IPv4 to IPv6 is fundamental which is that we need to make sure that the two different IP networks and the services layered on top of them coexist and be interoperable . https://st.icann.org/ipv6-migration/index.cgi? at_large_ipv4_to_ipv6_migration_policy
I'm not sure if I agree that this is the primary goal of the ALAC. I believe that the goal should be to inform users that this change is happening, and the implications thereof. e.g. they need to demand more information from their ISPs, and need to be aware that investment in future computing must take this into account.
At-Large Summit : a working group is working in planning internet users summit ( meeting ) which was originally planned to be held in Paris during the coming ICANN meeting but it might be held in Africa depending on budget and planning .
Very interesting. Where will the Africa meeting in November 2008 be held? What cities are candidates? warm regards Alan -- Alan Levin Tel: +27 21 409-7997
