Eduardo, I disagree. This paper was written long and approved by the ALAC before ITEMS proposed the EMM, and it does not create a new class of member. It will simply reach out and make contact with the members of the ALSes - a resource that we have always implied are out there, but have not attempted to interact with. We have hoped that the ALAS would do it without us getting involved, but that has not happened in the general case. So it does not promote the EMM, but rather provides an alternative methodology for attracting more involved users. And since it is an alternative, we need to demonstrate that it is something we are seriously working on. Regarding the review, we will address all of the recommendations. I look forward to your thoughts on how to flesh out and implement this proposal. Alan At 07/02/2017 06:29 PM, Eduardo Diaz wrote:

The second bullet in the Proposal section of the document just promotes the ITEMS EMM: "Focus upon the membership of each ALS rather than just itâs formal representative(s)." Also, the third bullet in the same section: "Aim to disseminate appropriate base information on ICANN and key ICANN issues..." does not add to the future. I believe that is what Tijani's Capacity Building Group has been doing all these years.
Please included me in the group. This document focus on the EMM only. I understand that there are a more issues than this alone. Are we aiming to comment only on this issue or all of them.?

Given that this will form the core of our alternative to the ITEMS Empowered Membership Model, we need to quickly convert this concept into a specific plan.
As a first step, please let me know if you want to participate in this. Any plan will be brought back to the ALAC, but we need to flesh it out quickly to have credibility in replying to the At-Large Review draft report.
Those who volunteer should start making notes on exactly how they want a plan fleshed out so we can draft a document for ALAC and RALO Leadership discussion and ALAC approval.
I hope to convene the first meeting next week.
