I have not seen any reason given by the NCUC council members for their vote, but I think it was mainly a wish to see the consultative process to continue. In an email last month Robin Gross said it hadn't been a major issue for the NCUC. On the GNSO council list, the reasons for abstentions are noted in this email <http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg06134.html> and Avri Doria sums up her thoughts on the vote <http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg06145.html> (Tony Holmes agrees, just to give a sense that Avri might be right!) Think it's clear to me I did not know enough about the issues and its long history. Though I am OK with my yes vote. That NCUC/ALAC collaboration could be fruitful on issues we care about, e.g. registrar/consumer, that they seem to overlook. Adam
* Of the forthcoming list of WHOIS studies, the NCUC says its overall response will be that no further studies of WHOIS are recommended. * I incorporated the NCUC's stance on the ICC serving as one of the evaluators of new gTLDs, which is that such an organization, which is a business interest group, is not recommended. * No comment at the moment about the "rumor" of controversy between ALAC and NCUC on NCSG issues. I have no idea what's going on there and am not the source of the rumor. * At Milton's request, relayed information about NCUC membership fees to the NA RALO discussion list.
