Quite serious group SSAC. I loved to be part of the group during the 3 years I have been there. Julie is also playing a great role pushing issues from our interest to them!
Applause.

Hello all,
I am happy that the SSAC has been so responsive to a point we have raised in Copenhagen and which has been debated in IETF circles. This is quite significant since proponents in the use of emojis have been supported by several large firms that saw this as a potentially huge new market, completely disregarding the potential for a. lack of universal access and b. misuse, thanks to its very nature. Once again, full marks for the SSAC! Kindest regards,
Olivier

Hi Everyone,
Please note that the following SSAC Report has been published:
*SAC093: SSAC Advisory on the Use of Emoji in Domain Names dated 25 May 2017*
In summary:
- Because the risks identified in the Advisory cannot be adequately mitigated without significant changes to Unicode or IDNA (or both), the SSAC recommends that the ICANN Board reject any TLD (root zone label) that includes emoji.
- Because the risks identified in the Advisory cannot be adequately mitigated without significant changes to Unicode or IDNA (or both), the SSAC strongly discourages the registration of any domain name that includes emoji in any of its labels. The SSAC also advises registrants of domain names with emoji that such domains may not function consistently or may not be universally accessible as expected.
